FOUNDER & CHAIRMAN

Dr. Aqil Jaigirdar founded Maa in 2016 after witnessing a young pregnant woman bleed to death during an emergency caesarean section while overseas as a medical student. The experience inspired his mission to ensure that no mother dies giving life.

He is an NHS GP Resident in London and a National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow, delivered by the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, undertaking his fellowship at the General Medical Council as a Marx Fellow.

Alongside his clinical work, Aqil is completing a Master’s in Global Healthcare Leadership at the University of Oxford, where he was awarded the Director’s Award Scholarship.

TRUSTEE

Dr. Usman Haroon is member of the Board of Directors and consults on the strategic direction of Maa. He is also the founder of his own design and photography agency.

Dr. Haroon graduated from King’s College London with a degree in Medicine (MBBS), as well as an Immunobiology & Infectious Diseases BSc. He is currently a practicing general practitioner in North London.

TRUSTEE

Dr. Tasnim Alam is a London-based medical doctor and former Head of Academics at Maa. She has worked within the pharmaceutical industry, with a particular focus on clinical research and across 30 clinical trials.

Holding degrees in both Chemistry and Medicine, Dr. Alam brings a combination of scientific and clinical expertise to her work. Her background in healthcare and research informs her commitment to delivering evidence-based care and improving health outcomes.

TRUSTEE

Dr. Abdul Rahyead is a medical doctor, the co-host of The Scrubbed In Podcast (Ranked Top 2.5% globally) and the co-founder of Peerr. He is now building a professional network for health and life sciences to connect, collaborate and advance human health.

Dr Rahyead graduated from King's College London Medical School and completed an iBSc in Innovation Technology and Regenerative Medicine.
